Push Pin Studios Catalogue—Book Design

Push Pin Studios Catalogue—Book Design Posted on February 24, 20181 Comment

I chose Push Pin Studios for a design class assignment where we had to create a museum catalog for a mock exhibition which focused in a graphic design art movement. The art studio, developed primarily by Milton Glaser and Seymour Chwast, grew from the desire to reinvent graphic communication. The studio, which broke away from conventional typographic design rules and shifted towards Dada and postmodern design, produced iconic artwork such as the “I (heart) NY” logo, “Bob Dylan’s” album cover, and the ‘War Is Madness poster.

Challenges in this project included researching the art movement and designing the catalog in order to emulate the art movement. Also, designing every aspect of the catalog, taking into consideration details such as measurements for the spine, which had to be accurate as we printed, scored, and pasted the pages into the book.
